Permitting Compliance Specialist

CLASSIFICATION: Permitting Compliance Specialist
HOURS: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (M-F)
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: B.A./B.S. in Environmental Science, Biology, Engineering or equivalent and four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the monitoring of surface water quality, construction compliance and best management practices (BMP’s) is required; a knowledge of ecological systems, water chemistry and field sampling protocol is preferred. Familiarity with RCID property, laboratory operations, construction practices and procedures is preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as a working knowledge of computer data base programs is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Permitting Compliance Specialist has two primary responsibilities; first, to maintain a permit tracking system to aid in permit processing, cataloging of permit conditions, and scheduling of compliance monitoring and reporting of all RCID Environmental Permits; and to conduct field inspections of construction projects within the District to aid in insuring that field compliance of all permit conditions are maintained by construction personnel at all times. This position is responsible for insuring all requirements are recognized, achieved and reported to the applicable agencies within required time frames. The job entails extensive interface with other departments within RCID, WDW and state and federal agencies, in addition to interface with external consultants and contractors.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The employee frequently is required to walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and swim. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
SALARY: Minimum starting salary is $50,284 per year
